New Zealand: Havelock North

To be honest, I wanted to stay in this region because I heard it was the wine capital of New Zealand, and I thought Cole and I could learn to be a bit more refined. In reality, we only had wine in New Zealand with our hosts in Auckland, and didn't touch it again until we were in Australia (more on that later). We are just beer people, and fortunately, New Zealand has excellent breweries, so we were not disappointed! Regardless, we loved Havelock North, and we had a great time despite the fact that we are unrefined! ;)

Kon'nichiwa from Tokyo! Tokyo was our first stop on our round-the-world adventure! Just over a year ago, I found a "mistake" fare from Los Angeles to Tokyo for $100.00 per person. Without thinking too much, I booked the one-way tickets, and figured that if we couldn't make it, we would just need to forfeit the money and move on. Scuba Diving in Phuket, Thailand

One of our big goals when we started on this trip was to get certified to scuba dive, especially because we had some amazing South-East Asian countries on our itinerary. We weren't exactly sure which destination we would complete our training in, but when we hit our first scuba-worthy destination, Phuket, Thailand, we were eager to get started.
